We
are a popular school and pupils come from outlying
towns and villages. We aim to be a true community
school, seeking as many links with the outside world
as possible. Friends are always welcome to visit and
we try to create as many opportunities as we can to
involve pupils with the wider community.
It is our aim to build a good relationship with local
residents and to ensure that we take time to listen
to the views of others.
We
feel it is important that local people are invited
to the school to work alongside staff and children
and in doing so enrich the life of the school. We
do serve a very wide community and over the course
of the year we have enjoyed the following links:
In
February 2004 we welcomed Peter Rapsey as the
Priest-in-Charge of Evercreech, Peter has been
a School Governor at other schools since 1977.
Whenever possible he takes Collective Worship
for Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 on Wednesdays.
School
Services at St Peter's to which the whole community
is invited.
" SPLAT - St Peter's Late Afternoon Team
(ages 7 to 10) and SPLAT Theatre (ages 10+) meet
in the School on Wednesday evenings.
The
school is represented at the annual Remembrance
Service at St Peter's in November.
Yoga
classes make regular use of the school's facilities.
Training
for Certificate in Event Stewarding for Glastonbury
Festival Fundraising volunteers regularly takes
place at weekends.
The
School Choir continues to visit the Glen Nursing
Home to sing Christmas and Easter songs.
Links
with Ansford Community School continue to strengthen
as does the link with the other Primary Schools
that make up the Ansford Federation Group of Schools.
Fundraising,
supporting both local and national charities,
takes place in the form of Charity Fayres.
The
school premises are often used by other groups
and organisations for private and social functions.
