RE- Spring

In Year 2, the Mulberry Class have been learning about Judaism as part of their religious education. The children explored important aspects of Jewish life and beliefs, helping them to understand and appreciate a different faith and culture.

A highlight of the topic was a visit from a member of a synagogue, who shared their experiences and answered the children’s thoughtful questions. This helped bring their learning to life and gave them a deeper understanding of how Judaism is practiced today.

The class learned about special objects found in Jewish homes, including the mezuzah, and discussed why it is important to Jewish families. They also explored Shabbat, learning how it is celebrated each week as a time of rest and family.

As part of their learning, the children had the opportunity to taste challah bread, a traditional food eaten during Shabbat, which was a memorable and enjoyable experience for everyone.

The children were also introduced to the Torah, discovering why it is a sacred text and how it is treated with great respect. In addition, they learned about Jewish celebrations and weddings, comparing them with their own experiences and traditions.

Overall, the topic helped the children develop respect, curiosity, and a greater understanding of the diverse world around them.
