We have had great fun in PE this week, taking part in lots of athletics activities as we get ready for Sports Day next week.
The children have been practising their running, jumping, and throwing skills – showing fantastic energy, effort, and teamwork!
Well done, Year 1 – we can’t wait to see you in action on Sports Day!
Year 3 were lucky to receive tennis coaching from professionally qualified LTA Tennis coaches.
This week, we had lots of fun learning tennis skills! We started by learning the chopper grip to hold the racket correctly. Then we practised bouncing the ball up and down on our rackets to build control. Finally, we worked with a partner to gently rally the ball back and forth, focusing on accuracy and teamwork.
We were very lucky to have a special visitor join us in Cherry Class! Ben came in to deliver a fun and engaging cricket session, where we focused on fielding drills and the basics of throwing and catching.
We learnt how important it is to keep our eyes on the ball and how to work as a team by passing the ball to our teammates. Everyone showed great enthusiasm and effort throughout the session.
We finished with a competitive game of fielding, and it was wonderful to see such fantastic teamwork and sportsmanship. Well done, Cherry Class!
We are fortunate to benefit from the expertise of specialist Sports Coaches here at Evercreech CofE Primary with frequent opportunities for children to develop their skills through a range of sports.
